how to recover from a concussion

Rest during the day

During the day you should be resting and taking a break from physical activities. You will be out of your sport, but avoid other strenuous work.  If you have a job that requires a lot of lifting or moving you should ask for some time off.

Sleep at night

You need to maintain a regular sleep schedule at night. While recovering from a concussion is not the time to be having sleepovers.

Don't multitask

Don’t multitask, you want your brain to heal so focus on one thing at a time and don’t stretch it to the max.

Screens Off

Turn your phone, tv, and computer off for a while, staring at bright screens can worsen your symptoms.

Gradually Return

When you are cleared, work with you athletic trainer to make a plan to gradually return to your sport. Don’t rush into it all at once.
